Men

Don't men know to never ask a woman's age? And to never guess a baby's age? Someone guessed I was a 10 month old today! I know I'm long. But really. The nerve.

Matching outfits

I want to grow up to be just like Daddy. My first baby-step in that direction is dressing like him. I just need to learn how to sew a D for Daddy onto his tank top and we'd be twins.

Pouting

Someone played a cruel trick on me. I thought GranmaNee had moved to Madison permanently. But no! She left today. Where will I nap now that my cozynest/cuddlebed has gone back to Pennsylvania? I was so sad today that I cried while out at a party for my friend Kelly. Dissertation-smissertation. I'm a baby and I'll sometimes act like one.

Mini Pooper

I take offense in being put in this onesie. There's nothing mini about me, or about my poopies.

Oh no they didn't

But they did. Mamma and Daddy took me to my first day at day care. Only a half-day. Thankfully. But I'll teach them. Or I'll teach the nice Sharon-lady. Or maybe I'll just chew on GranmaNee's arm.

And the winner is

It's like, I'm so totally over fighting about the bottle. That was like, so last month.

Rain

Daddy's name might be Noah, but I didn't believe him about it raining for 40 days! We only got 7 days of rain, but that was still plenty and caused lots of flooding. When the sun finally came out, I needed sunglasses as I wasn't used to the light.

I like to sing-a

about the moon-a and the june-a and the spring-a

One more thing

The doctor told me that while my constantly chewing on things might be an indication that I'm teething, my drooling isn't an indication. I'm just at that age when I really start to salivate. Who knew? But as you can see, I'm definitely a drooler. I spit less though, so I am growing up (a little).

Doctor's appointment

I don't know if I like going to my doctor anymore. He keeps giving me shots! Owie. They make me cry in a high pitch dolphin sounding cry that I didn't even know I could make! From what I overhear, he's going to keep giving me shots. And perhaps a blood draw to see if I got a good enough case of the chicken pox. That just won't do. I liked him much better when he just smiled at me and played with my joints to see that everything was working fine.

The good news is that I'm healthy. My doctor agrees with everyone that I'm a long baby. In fact, I'm taller than 94% of the other girl babies my age. Which means nothing to me as I haven't met any other babies my age yet. But I'm only heavier than 27% of other baby girls my age. I need to start marketing Mamma's Milk as the new diet fad. The perfect balance of nutrition and fat without putting on too many pounds.

My feet

I've found my feet! I'd lost my left foot. But then I found it. It was with my right foot. Whenever I get a chance, I like playing with them. Especially when Mamma and Daddy are trying to change my diaper. That's an awesomely fun game.

Smart baby

I know I'm a smart baby. I'm reading books. I'm writing blogs. I'm manipulating my parents to do my bidding. But reading Swedish? That's asking a bit much of a 4 month old.

Meet Morti(mer)

I love Eli, my elephant. And she was enough for me. But Mamma and Daddy had to have Mortimer the moose. Something to do with him being Daddy's state animal and on Mamma's quarters. I don't quite get it.

While Morti's nice, Eli's still my favorite. Morti and I are just getting to know each other. Making a relationship like what I have with Eli takes time.

Eww gross

I saw Mamma and Daddy kissing. I understand celebrating their second anniversary, but really, do they have to kiss? And do they have to kiss in front of me?

Names

I've learned how to say the names of my GranmaNee and Mormor! Unfortunately, Mamma and Daddy don't know that yet because to them, it sounds like "ah-ooh" and "ah-gooh".

Sense of humor

My sense of humor is based entirely on physical comedy. I don't yet enjoy or appreciate irony, sarcasm or satire.

Sore loser

Daddy, you won this round of the bottle fight. But don't get cocky. Monday is a new week, and the weekend is long.

Coke vs Pepsi

Mamma and Daddy are Coke people. But I think I prefer Pepsi. Is that because Pepsi has more colors on its bottle? Or because it is novel to my environment?

Odds & Sods

Sleep: I started sleeping through the night a month ago. I'd sleep 10 hours uninterrupted. I was being super-duper nice for Mamma and Daddy. But since I got the pox, I haven't been feeling very good. So I decided to stop sleeping through the night, and get the comfort I need throughout the night. So I'm back to waking up every 3-4 hours at night.

Pox: Sorry other babies, I'm no longer contagious. My pox are starting to scab over (mmm....). Only got 11 of them and wasn't really fussed by the itch. Much better than the horror stories I hear about Mamma and Daddy getting them as kids.

Teeth: Oowwww! They're not visible yet, but I'm still drooling up a storm, tonguing my lower gums, biting on anything that I can get hold of (I prefer cold towels and cooled teething toys).

I can't believe they're still trying with the bottle

I give up. I give up! Mamma and Daddy (mostly Daddy) have been trying to get me on the bottle since June. I can't believe they're still at it. Yesterday Daddy battled with me for the entire day. It was awful. I finally relented at 3pm. And then today, he came back at me with the bottle! The doctors and other funny medicine people may say I only have a 5 minute memory span, but I remember yesterday. I wasn't going through that again. I gave in today after 15 minutes. Man, is he ever stubborn. I can't wait to get him back when I'm a teenager!

Old fart

Happy Birthday Mormor!!!

Mmmm....

I devour books. They're tasty.

I don't understand it

I mean, I know I'm related to these people. So why don't I tan or have (brown) hair?

Chicken pox messes with my memory

That's the only reason I can think of for why I've forgotten to share that GranmaNee and Aunt Diane arrived on Wednesday! Yay! Just in time to see me with spots. I don't have too many of them. I can count 11. And so far I haven't had to get too cranky with Mamma and Daddy. They've been nicely spoiling me and giving me the cuddles I've been demanding.

I love coplanar nonintersecting lines, and elephants

Eli and I have made a supersecret elephant pact. Whenever she points to something with her nose, I point to it with my nose. But I also point to it with my finger, just in case she can't see that I'm using my nose (Eli's nose is very big, you see, and sometimes it gets in the way of her eyes). So in conclusion I HAVE THE CHICKEN POX WWAAAAAAH

Pox update

I went from having chicken pock on the top of my head, to having 3 pox. Another behind my ear, and one on my back. Thanks Tristan for my gift!! I don't know why everyone around me is freaking out. I feel a little unwell, but nothing walkies and bouncies and hugs don't solve. The weird bit is that I'm constantly exhausted, but can't sleep. No napping for me with the pox?

I don't have the pox in this photo. I just wanted to show off my vintage sleeper.

Dear Other Babies

You are cordially invited to my Chicken Pox Party! I should be contagious for the next week. Location TBD. BYOBT (Bring Your Own Baby Tylenol). Please ask your parents' permission first, and consult with your physician.

4 Months!

Another month, another Mirthday! I'm now 4 months old. And wow. My bones feel every one of my four months. Especially because I'm doing so many more exercises. I like tummy-time okay now. I still spit up tons, but I don't mind face-planting in it. It's kinda funny. And I especially like that I can push myself up. Makes tummy-time that much more fun. I also practice sitting up. I need Mamma and Daddy's help still, but there's so much more to look at from this position. And then there's flying. That doesn't use a lot of muscle strength, but drains all my brain energy. I'm now also able to entertain myself. Don't get me wrong, Mamma and Daddy are hysterical, but I want to develop my own independent interests. My favorites are spending time with Eli the elephant, and playing with the guitar on my bouncer.

I still don't take the bottle, and have gotten used to just waiting until Mamma's home. Then I gorge myself! And I'll eat anything else I can get my hands on. Toys, blankets, fingers, hands...

I don't much like going to sleep at night. I'm typically down between 8-9pm. But not for lack of trying to stay up later!

I'm talking more. You have to in this house. I love to smile, giggle, say "ah-goo" and make razzing-raspberry sounds. Hearing Mamma and Daddy make the sounds back to me is especially funny. And sometimes, I'm a little bashful when Mamma or Daddy make me smile really big.

I'm working on rolling over while doing tummy-time. And when on my back, I roll over to my side. Mostly if there's something interesting over there.

Not funny

What is not funny is that Mamma and Daddy make me go to sleep and miss the party. Just like not taking the bottle, I don't like being told when to sleep. I don't care if I'm tired. Life is too funny to sleep!

Comedy Central

Life sure is funny! I've discovered how to make razzing raspberry sounds. Which is funny. But watching Mamma and Daddy try to imitate my sounds is even funnier.

Super powers

Shhh.... Don't tell anyone. But I think I might be a super-hero. I discovered that I can fly! I'm just waiting to see if I develop more super powers before I order my costume and come up with my super-hero name. I'm thinking "Superbaby". Too generic?

But Daddy you are not listening to me

I know you want me to take the bottle, but I don't want to. I do not believe this is a hard concept for you to grasp Daddy. I think that you are just being stubborn. I honestly don't think there is anyone else in our family who is as stubborn as you. It's really amazing how we can continue to go back and forth on this with you not realizing that someone is being really really stubborn Daddy. Eventually that person is going to have to give in - I'm trying to help you here Daddy.

I swore I found it

I thought I found my left foot yesterday. I swear I did. But now I can't find it anywhere. Did you see what I did with it?

Thursday, August 2, 2007

They cannot be serious!

They're really going to leave me with a daycare person. I don't believe it. They signed the contract on Tuesday. And she's nice and everything. But I want my Mamma and Daddy. Well. I'll teach them. I'll continue to fight them on the bottle. That way Mamma won't be able to leave me all day. Right? She'll have to come and feed me my snacks and lunch. Right? They wouldn't really leave me all day to starve. Would they?

Long legs

People are saying I have long legs. I don't see it. Course, I'm almost 4 months old and have just discovered my knees. There's more down there? Yowzers!

Teething cont...

You probably can't see my teeth yet. But trust me. They're coming. Because I can feel them. It's like a chronic pain that sometimes you can ignore. But when you're tired, and want to sleep, it's a chronic pain that you can't ignore, and that keep stabbing you every couple moments, keeping you up until you pass out with exhaustion at 11:30pm. Awful!
