Dinner

n: Uncle Yo is coming to visit. He's bringing me dinner. And milk.

Home repairs

I recommend cottage cheese. It's a great substitute for plumber's glue, duct tape, shellac, and spackle.

The camera rarely travels

I do go places. I do do fun things (snicker, dodo). But my poor camera. He doesn't get out much anymore. And when he does get out, Mamma and Daddy leave pictures on him for a long long time. My friend TJ had a birthday party two weeks ago. I talk about it all the time. Every time I put my striped dress on I hope it means I'm going to his birthday party again. There were puppet shows and cake and pizza. TJ is a Ladybug with me at daycare. Enzo is another Ladybug. He looks like he could be my other brother. Too bad my friend Greyson didn't come to the party. Those three boys are my morning buddies.

I am quite fine

I've mastered the pincer grasp. I just haven't mastered sharing my milestones in a timely manner. Or getting my smiles ready for the silly camera.

Elegant while sitting on Daddy's lap

n: Did you hear that? Did you hear that? That was my fa-art!

Doppelgänger

There used to be a photo of me in my cubby at daycare. But my teacher replaced it today with this picture of Cindy Brady, and she keeps calling me Cindy Brady. I don't understand. Who is this Cindy Brady?!

Inconsiderately considerate?

I was supposed to go to the doctor on Friday, but she called to reschedule. What? I eat sooo much I wanted to report how big I am, and how healthy I am. Why did she need to reschedule? Did she have sick kids? Did she not feel good? What could be sooo important that she had to reschedule? Oh, she's doing missionary work in Haiti. Don't I feel selfish.

2/3

Which one of these is not like the other one?

Facial hair

n: I have a mustache.

And yes. I live in this outfit.

Monday, January 25, 2010

Bobo

n: You have a bobo on your knee Daddy?
D: Yes.
n: It's okay Daddy. I'm here for you.

Verbatim

n: Hello.
e: el-lo.

Can I get a new drum head?

Sure I can drum. But do you want me to sound good? Because then I'll need a new drum head. The last person to borrow my drums almost broke my sticks they played so hard!

911

Yes. I have an emergency. I forgot to nap, and then I fell, and now I can't stop crying.

I like doing things my way

There's no sense in waiting until I'm 12 months old to wear clothing sized 12-18 months. So I'm starting now. And I also don't see the sense in waiting to learn how to walk until I've mastered crawling. Crying seems to work just as well for getting me to my feet (thanks to Mamma and Daddy).

Daddy drove the car last

n: Mamma, you moved your seat up for me.
M: Yes. Mamma's legs are shorter than Daddy's.
n: So are Nina's.

My stomach

I think I bit off more than my four bottom teeth can chew.

I'M NOT DONE SLEEPING

M: (Turns on hallway light. Opens Nina's door.)
n: (Stomp, stomp, stomp. Nina runs to the door.)
n: (SLAM! Nina slams the door.)
n: (Stomp, stomp, stomp, flop. Nina runs back to bed under her covers.)
n: NO! I'm still sleeping!

5. Clowns.
6. Kids with face paint.

9. Boom.
10. The tiger.
11. The bear in any dark area of any room.
12. The bear upstairs.
13. The bear in my room.
14. The bear at the front door.
15. The bear in the office.

19. Scary things.

Yuck?

n: My boogie tastes yummy.

9 months!

It's my mirthday and MLK Jr Day. How cool.

I've been feeding myself with my fingers for a while now. Mainly carbs, but occasionally fruits, veggies and cheeses will sneak their way in. I'm trying to figure out spoons now. I tried using a sippy cup with handles, and that was waay too much fun (flinging it around and dropping it on the floor). Sippy cups without handles are more like holding my bottle. Plus, this way I get to be like my sister... which is my ultimate goal. She's the best. I love her.

Nina brings me lots and lots of toys. So I have no desire to crawl to get them. All I do is grunt out of frustration and she helps me out. Not necessarily by bringing me the toy I want, instead putting the toy further away from me leaving me content to play with what I already have. But I do have a desire to be mobile. Walking is good fun. Mamma or Daddy need to help me to stand, but I'm great at walking, reaching for other surfaces while standing, and bending to pick up dropped toys.

I babble lots. It's a survival mechanism in this family learning how to talk. Ba-ga-wa-ma-da-la means I love you. I also tell people I love them by giving great big hugs. And big gooby kisses. I'm a very very snuggly guy.

Aside from being sick this last week with lots of coughing, sneezing and liquid appetite, I'm generally a good sleeper. Rocking is nice, but unnecessary. Just give me my soothie, put me down, and put a blanket on me. I'll roll over and fall asleep myself. Day or night. But usually only in my bed. I don't like sleeping elsewhere (other than daycare). And now that I'm feeling better, I'm back to being able to sleep until 5am. And occasionally I'll go back to sleep until even later (but maybe that was me still getting over being sick).

Argument

It's hard for us to decide who looks better in this hat. Our conclusion? It's a tie.

Definitions

Some may call it defiance, or slamming doors in your face. I prefer to call it getting some privacy.

Bottoms up

I like to get to the bottom of things. It's where I've stored my best leftovers to snack on.
Wait. You weren't meant to read that.

Food

n: I'm cooking dinner.
M: Will you make me some sushi?
n: Okay. Here's your shoe-shit. I put your shoe-shit on a plate and you eat it. It's hot shoe-shit. You need to blow on it. Do you like your shoe-shit?

Sore throats

I was sick with a really icky sore throat for 4 days. I passed it on to Ewan a couple days ago, and now I'm passing it on to Daddy!

Uh-dun-fee-goo

Translation: I don't feel good.

Levity

I thought I'd share a smile to make up for my sister's innocent knife wound.

M: I wish I could

n: I'm on the phone. I'm talking to Daddy. Mamma, will you call your Daddy?

Toy Story - To infinity and beyond

n: To a-spinny and beyond! (followed by spinning)

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

I'm not scared of the dark...

... I'm scared of the bears and tigers and clowns and Booms that hide in the dark.

Mamma? Daddy?

n: Mommy! Dad!

Giggle-pants

If you don't stop making me laugh, I'm going to pee my pants. Of course, if you stop making me laugh, I'll pee my pants. Basically, what I'm saying is, I'm going to pee in my pants.

Simile

n: Your mouth is like a cave.

Sick

I've discovered the best way to ensure getting sick. Go visit the doctor for something completely unrelated (ie. follow-up of fluid in ears), and come out with a sore throat and super high temperature! Guaranteed to work everytime.

ps. For those moved by my tears, I'm crying because Mamma took away the tinted chapstick and wouldn't let me put anymore on.

Crawling is over-rated

I'm discovering way more advanced ways to travel!

Road trip

Daddy's on a road trip. I'm sick and so I miss him extra lots. Now if I had an iPhone instead of an iPod I could send him messages. Hint hint Mamma.

Reading "The First of Octember"

M: Everyone wants a new green kangaroo. Some people want one and some people want two.
n: Mormor and Morfar are coming back. I miss Uncle Yo.

Thursday, January 7, 2010

Food

I made nice while the family was in town... but as soon as they left I let it be known that I AM HUNGRY, and I CAN FEED MYSELF thank you very much. Since that came out sounding more like WWAAAAHHHHH, it took a week or so for Mamma and Daddy to realize the days of them spoon-feeding me are numbered. As are the days of Mamma nursing. I am way hungrier than what they think I need. Bring on the formula, graham crackers, canned fruit, breads and liverwurst!

Bath strike

After less than a month, the parental party failed to meet their end of the negotiated bargain (keeping all specks of dirt out of the tub, including those introduced by the child party), and the bath strike has resumed.

Heart strings

M: Once upon a time, there was a little girl with curly blonde hair. And she loved to tell jokes.
n: And she missed her NeeNee.

Rules

So I'm not supposed to eat puzzles? Rules are a bit difficult for a baby to grasp. Stuff is put in front of me, and some of it I eat, some of it I'm allowed to put in my mouth, and other stuff I'm not allowed to put in my mouth (because of small pieces of paper that Mamma and Daddy worry I'm swallow). Next they'll tell me I can't pull hair to show affection!

Basketball

While reading Jack Kent's "Hop Skip Jump - First book of action words"
n: They're playing football.
M: Yes they are.
n: And they're playing baseball.
M: That's right, those kids are playing baseball. What ball are those kids throwing into the hoop?
n: Meatballs.

My first Christmas

What a great holiday. Mamma and Daddy stay home from work, lots of people come to visit, and I get to eat wrapping paper. I guess the toys inside the wrapping are fun too. Mostly the toys I can put in my mouth and the ones that make music.
