Family photos

I don't understand why Mamma and Daddy can't get all four of us in a photo together.

Matter of opinion

You may say it's a nasty habit, I say it's functional flexibility.

Breakfast

NeeNee has friends who have a diner. Nina loved the ambiance. I've never had better pancakes and bacon (sorry Mamma).

The unpublished Little Miss book

Little Miss I DON'T WANT TO NAP!

NeeNee's playroom

NeeNee has a playroom, and hats, and we had her all to ourselves for a day (while Daddy and Mamma went to Daddy's high school reunion). She's fun.

Hotels

Full length mirrors? I'm in heaven.
Remote controls? Ewan is in heaven!

Roadtrip!

Ewan is an awesome travel buddy.

Don't forget to pack the sore throat

Normally NeeNee comes to visit, one of us gets sick and then we get her sick. This time we're going to visit NeeNee. So we're bringing the sick to her.

Toddler

It's official. First steps over a month ago, and now I'm a full-fledged walker.

Mamma has a friend named Somer

D: It's the first day of summer.
n: Oh, we have to go to her house.

NeeNee would love my cooking

(in the bathtub, pouring water from one container to the next)
n: I'm cooking.
M: What are you making?
n: It has coffee and granola and popcorn in it!

(photo above: sprinkles, with a little bit of cookie)

Happy Father's Day

Thank you Daddy for all that you do. We love you. Can we have some crackers?

Second cousins

No way anyone can mistake we're related.

14 months!

Mirthday? More like sick day. I celebrated today with 104' fever. Go big or go home.

Didn't effect my appetite. Still managed to eat a slice and a half of pizza for dinner. And leave space for dessert. Because yeah I eat a lot. Mostly with my hands. But I especially like eating while holding a fork. I can drink from a regular bottle (not baby bottle) and cup. But because I love to drop my cup on the floor, Mamma and Daddy insist on giving me sippy cups unless they supervise. Spoilsports.

I've mostly mastered walking. It's my preferred method of getting around, and finding what hidden and unsafe places Mamma and Daddy have left unguarded.

I've begun to request books at bedtime. But after 2 pages of one book I'm bored and requesting a new book. And before books, I love my bath. Nina doesn't yell in the tub anymore, so she's fun to bathe with - she always cracks me up. I used to go to bed at 7pm. But in the last month I've begun requesting a later bedtime. And on special nights I'll stay up super late. But then the next night I'll want to go to sleep at 7pm again.

I sometimes communicate with words. I can say ma-ma, da-da, ni-na, uh-oh, ba-ba and uh-oh. And sometimes I communicate with gestures. Dropping food on the floor means I'm all done. Hurling myself out of someone's arms means I want to go to sleep. Grunting and screaming means I'm hungry (again).

My favorite toy is the remote control (when I can get at it). I love to control the music, and love dancing to samba beats on my toy piano. I'm a fan of running around, putting something in something else, and opening and shutting whatever I can open/shut (doors, cabinets, drawers). And I love the outside. I cry whenever the front door is closed.

Family

How fantastic! My extended family has other family in town, so I got to introduce my baby brother to our cousin Eva, our older cousin Heidi, and our sort-of-cousin David.

Family

My uncle isn't the only one in the family with body art. And my cousin (once removed) isn't the only one with dreadlocks!

Coy boy

My sister isn't the only one that loves the camera in this family.

Butthead?

Or butting heads with Mamma?

Bedtime stories

D: Once upon a time there was a little Nina, and she was called Sleeping Nina. And she was waiting for a man on a horse to come and kiss her eyeballs to wake them up.
n: And he was a prince.
D: And he was a prince, and he had a hat. And a cape.
n: No he didn't have a hat; he had some shoes, and glasses, and he had them on his belly to keep him safe, so that I could see him.

Where do we live?

Strange weather has tornado warnings going through my town the last two nights. So as Mamma and Daddy watch the weather warnings, I get to learn all about the geography around us. And the towns around us named Ballstown, Big Bone and Sugartit (the first 't' is silent). What an interesting area.

Limits of suspension of disbelief

Mamma invented a great Magic Spray (aka Aerosol). We spray it in my room and it keeps all the scary things away at night. I don't think Mamma showed Daddy her invention.

(in the middle of the night, scared of the "the grey lady")
n: Daddy, we need the Magic Spray.
D: pst. pst. pst. (pointing finger around the room).
n: No Daddy, that's not the Magic Spray. That's your finger.

Driving Mamma crazy

D: No Ewan, you can't get down. Because I know where you're trying to go. You're trying to get all up in Mamma's grill.
n: Can I get up in Mamma's grill?

Artist

Ohh, crayons. I can draw with these. Ooohhh, crayons, I can eat them and drive Mamma crazy!

Story time

n: Once upon a time there was a little Mamma and Daddy and Nina and Ewan. And they had lots of babies. And a new house. A pink house. And they lived happily ever after. The end.

Zoo

n: I want to see the giraffes.
M: We just saw the giraffes. Now it's time to go home.
n: But why?

Big boy

Walking. Check.
Drawing with crayons. Check.
Drinking from a regular bottle. Check.
Leaping tall buildings in a single bound. Tomorrow.

Friday, June 11, 2010

Ewan agrees

n: I want to walk around outside without my shirt on.

Loving it!

Now that I'm better at walking, Mamma and Daddy are giving me more responsibilities, like cleaning up after myself and carrying my drink to where ever I want to take it.

Bedtime stories

n: Once upon a time there was a little Mamma named Mamma, and she had an egg and a bagel, and she ate a cookie. And she lived happily ever after. The end.

n: Once upon a time there was a little Daddy named Noah, and he put sprinkles on my cookies! And then he had to put on his 'jamas. The end.

Technology?

Daddy, Daddy, look! I found where you plug the computer cord into the TV!

Kersplat

Sometimes I walk from here to there, there to here, across the room, pivot, return, and carry things at the same time. Othertimes? Well. I prefer to focus on what I can do.

Dessert

Even more than ice cream and movies, I like ice cream and movies with my Daddy.

I am a sucker for new toys

Ever since I got my ear tubes and have had to have earplugs in while bathing, I've refused to sit in the tub again. Last time I didn't sit in the tub, Mormor sent me new bath toys. And darn it if that trick didn't work again.

Walking

Oh yeah baby. I'm moving on! And I kicked my soothie to the curb last week as well. I'll be driving cars next week.

Long weekend recap

I took my development as a big girl to new heights - the company is good up there. And then with a little help, I was able to get down all by myself.
