Library

I really like my neighborhood library. It has special kid computers (with color coded keyboards and mini-mice), a kitchen, a grocery store, benches to climb on, toys on the walls, boxes to climb through, puzzles, crayons and kids. It's so much fun I had Mamma and Daddy take me there twice today. On the second trip, Mamma and Daddy brought home some books they say they borrowed from the library. Wait. The library has books too? I LOVE my library.

Truth

Given my parents and their sense of humor, it's fortunate I'm very....

Who's almost 2?

Up, up on the shoulders. No, I don't want to be this high up. Yogurt, I want yogurt. No, not that kind of yogurt. Now you ruined it and I don't want yogurt. Books, read me books. No, not in that voice. Well, now you ruined that too. I'm hungry. No, I don't want to eat food. I'm just hungry. Geez, why can't Mamma and Daddy do anything right?

Potty

M: What do you do on the potty?
n: Poo-poo.
M: What else do you do on the potty?
n: Fart.

Frieda

There are different species of bear. Like Bedstebear, Pinkiboo, and Cuddles. Similarly, there are different species of dog. This is a Frieda. All dogs (be they dolls, real, or in books) with black spots are Friedas.

Mormorcare

Mormor stayed home with me. We markered, dotted with paints, playdoughed, barned, pretend housed, sledded, walked, read, Bedstebeared, danced, somersaulted and talked in sentences. Phew. She's exhausting to keep up with!

The vault

If Disney can put movies in his vault and then bring them back, then I can bring my old toys back from vault too. Because sometimes there are new ways to play with old toys.

Reading

With Mormor here, I'm trying to show off all of my sounds and words.

Barry Alvarez says thanks

Yesterday Mormor's flight was late arriving to her connection. But because the airlines know she's special and how much she wanted to see me, they arranged for a bus to pick her up at the airplane and zip her over to her next plane. And they even held the next plane until she arrived. Barry Alvarez was also on her flights. He's very happy that Mormor is so special, because that way he made his connecting flight too. Lucky for Barry.

Brother

Mamma and Daddy think that Skully is camera shy because his hands are ALWAYS in front of his face. Having been where he's been, I know he's not camera shy, I know he's just cramped for space. Mamma's a belly hog and doesn't share her insides much. And it must be even harder for him as he's already an estimated 4lbs 8oz!

The good old days

I miss my puddles. I wish they'd come back to play. Ice isn't nearly as much fun. When you slip and fall you go BOOM!

Moon

Mamma may prefer autumn, and Daddy may prefer winter, but I prefer the ending of winter. I love the moon, and this is the best time for seeing the moon while the sun is still up!

Smart pills

I woke up this morning and said "morning" to Mamma and Daddy. While listening to music (a song I wasn't a fan of) I said "what's that noise". At dinner, I asked for Mamma to turn on the "news". When Daddy got home I said "how you doing". After dropping my toy car behind the sofa I pronouced "I get it". And after completing a puzzle I said "that's it". Now, not all of these phrases were fully enunciated. But it's hysterical to see Mamma's and Daddy's faces on the days I take my smart pills.

Q: Am I looking forward to meeting my brother? addendum

A: Heck yeah! This is just a preview to how much I'll use him for dress-up, trying out make-up, and just in general being my personal toy. See you in another life, brotha.

Will you be my Valentine?

I like this holiday! Daddy got me a new bear, and NeeNee (unsurprisingly) sent me a music card. Though I have to admit, this song is taking me a little longer to warm up to. You should hear it when I play my music cards in unison - pure magic!

Breakfast addendum

What was that I was saying about cereal? After 2 days I'm already bored. So I'm mixing it up a bit. With my hands.

Breakfast

It takes Mamma and Daddy a long time to catch on. Every morning I would have fruit, milk and waffle or toast for breakfast. And every morning they would have cereal. And every morning I would ask to have some of their cereal. So they would share with me from their own bowl. Well. Finally. They figured out that since I've been capable of using a spoon for some time now, that I can have my own bowl of cereal. Geez. How did these people ever earn their PhDs?

Goldbug

Where's Goldbug? There's Goldbug (well, a little to the left)! I love Goldbug. Goldbug, Goldbug, Goldbug, Goldbug. I could look for Goldbug all day.

Behavioral shaping

It takes Mamma and Daddy a while to see things my way. So I need to get them used to my crazy ideas in baby-steps.
Step 1: Get them used to stickers.
Step 2: Get them used to stickers on clothing.
Step 3: Tattoos!

Heat wave

Yay! The snow melted enough that I got a chance to preview the fall fashions while visiting the zoo! The lions and tigers and bears were outside. They seemed really tame though. The real animals at the zoo were all the big kids pushing and shoving me for a better view, and the teenagers in t-shirts acting like monkeys.

22 months!

I think it's funny that Mamma and Daddy still call me their baby. I'm a little girl! I'm almost ready for school: I can count to 10, I can read some numbers, and I know most of my colors (although my default label is blue). I recognize letters as letters, but who needs to write letters when you can type?

I can do a somersault, and I caught air today jumping for the first time (I was so excited it was my mirthday). I obviously inherited Mamma's tendency to not watch where she's walking. But that's okay, it's nice to bump into people and say hi. And since I have almost no stranger anxiety, I love meeting new people.

I LOVE to dance. First I strike a pose, then I bop around for a while, and then ultimately I end up dancing in circles until I fall down (go boom!). I also LOVE music. And I'm quite critical of what I listen to. I prefer progressive rock, techno, indie, and the looped sounds my toys make over and over and over and over again. Daddy's taught me how to use the space bar to pause music on the computer, how to restart a song I like, and I tell him when I do NOT like what he's listening to. I LOVE to read. My current favorite is searching for Goldbug in "Cars and Trucks and Things that Go" by Richard Scarry.

I'm not focusing much on potty training. I know my potty chair is there. I know when I have to go poo and I'll tell Mamma and Daddy I'm doing my business. But it's just so much easier to go when you gotta go. Who wants to plan, and tell Mamma or Daddy and then wait for them to help me. Diapers are awesome!

I love sleep. Down at 7pm. And like an alarm clock, I'll call for Mamma and Daddy at 7:05am. But naps? At daycare where it's nice and dark, sure I'll nap. But at home? Bah. There's much fun to be had!

I still pretty much eat everything offered to me, but lately my appetite hasn't been what it usually is. Because, happy mirthday - I think I'm coming down with whatever is being passed around at daycare.

Modeling behavior

Whatever Mamma and Daddy do, I want to do too. If they type and move a mouse, so will I. If they put on makeup and lotion, then so will I. If Daddy gives Mamma a back massage, then I will help. I will pretend to cook, help clean up (so long as they're doing it with me), talk on the phone, drink from their cup, and help with laundry. However, I draw the line at vacuuming.

Blue sky

It's been so long since we've had clear skies, I'm not used to the brightness of the sun. Thankfully Mamma's and my heads are the same size so I can steal her glasses.

Bottoms up!

My newest obsession is with the moon. Looking at the moon up in the sky. Pointing to pictures of moons on the wall. Reading books about the moon. And my favorite. Mooning people.

Two instant results from taking SmartPills

I counted to 10 for the first time! I usually swap nine for seven, but not this morning.

D: Did you poo?
n: Fart.

Constipation cures

Dried apricots are good medicine for constipation. But only special apricots.
M: Do you want some apricots?
n: Yeah.
M: Should Daddy get you some apricots?
n: No.
M: Can Daddy give Mamma the apricots?
n: No.
M: Does Mamma have to go out and pick the apricots?
n: Yeah.
M: Does Mamma have to dry the apricots?
n: Yeah.

Superbowl

Do you know who I want to win the Superbowl this year? The Giants. Because they're GranDen's favorite team, and the Steelers and Cardinals did not take my bedtime into account when they decided to play tonight. So poop on them.
