Old people can't count

There are 8 more sleeps until Mormor arrives on Thursday. But Mormor says on the phone that there are only 3 sleeps. I'm having a hard time cutting out 5 sleeps between now and then. I'm trying really hard to skip naps and bedtimes.

Dum-ditty-dum-ditty-dum-dum-dum

Daddy loves drums. I love Daddy. Ergo: We love reading books about drums together. He reads. I turn the pages.

WHA-

ZZAAAAAAAAAAAAHH

I see; I see

While Mamma is away at her smart-person's club I thought I would do an impression of her. This is the way Mamma looks when she is thinking about smart things, which is most of the time. I want to be like Mamma when I grow up so I can be smart and funny and cute and beautiful and wonderful and awesome all at the same time. Ok Daddy you can stop helping me write this now.

To doings also

Things I want to do before I turn 1:
(5) Drink all by myself.
Status: Mostly complete, although getting the cup back onto the table is a different story. Daddy says I will be a famous author because I drink by myself and find it hard to put down.

Easter

I'm confused. I was born Easter weekend. Now it's Easter weekend again, but it's not my birthday. I guess some things I'll never understand.

Babyproofing

Oooh, shiny silver things. I want shiny silver things to play with and eat. I don't think babyproofing is in my best interest.

Pacifiers

I didn't appreciate when Mamma and Daddy tried to give me a pacifier as a baby. It tasted all plasticy. But now that I can drag it along the floor when I crawl, I'm finding it much more flavorful. What a cute chew toy.

Concession

I gave in and let Mamma and Daddy film me taking steps. But I still have an ace up my sleeve. They haven't seen me go up two steps at daycare, or go down an entire flight of stairs. Teehee, we don't have stairs at home.

Melting

Guess what was buried under all the snow. A swing. I don't care what you call it, as long as you keep pushing!

Animals

The zoo is a scary place. Lions are only 6ft away, and separated by a wire fence. And panda bears are just a moat away. I've decided I like my animals on paper. In books. In magazines. Stuffed. Or for lunch.

What's all the commotion?

I wish Mamma and Daddy would settle down. Yes, I took my first real baby step. No, I will not let them get it on tape. Or video. Not until they calm down.

This picture?

My passport arrived! But really? This picture? This picture is going to be in my passport until I'm almost 6 years old? Will they even believe it's me?

Problem solving

When doing my laps around the coffee table, I sometimes encounter problems. Like Mamma and Daddy's laundry on the table and in my way. Easy fix. Dump their laundry on the floor. Oops. New problem. Now the laundry is on the floor and still in my way. Eureka. If I pick up the laundry, and put it back on the table - behind where I've been - problem solved!

Bibs don't lie

Now that I've decided I love Cheerios most over all other foods, I insist on only eating them. I don't understand why Mamma and Daddy fight me on this.

Bright idea

Who's bright idea was it to change all the clocks? Mamma and Daddy are trying to feed me and put me to sleep at all the wrong times. And I will not stand or sleep for it!

Big girl

I big girl. I feed myself mashed carrots. They're kinda hard to keep hold of.

11 months!

It's my last mirthday before my first birthday. To celebrate, I gave Daddy a job interview, and I fed Mamma some Cheerios! I'm taking baby steps (get it, I'm a baby, so I take baby steps) towards walking, but a HUGE fan of cruising. If I can pull myself up on it, I will, and I'll cruise to the next thing I can get ahold of.

I feed myself. Actually that's my preferred method of feeding now. I love getting my hands into my mushy food! And I've realized that books aren't food and so I don't eat them anymore. Really, they didn't taste too good. Instead, I turn the pages voraciously to see how the story ends.

I talk a lot to Mamma and Daddy. Sometimes they understand me. They still have a lot of language to learn.

I've discovered that my toys go in one another. That's makes everything new and exciting right now!

I've finally trained Mamma and Daddy to put me to bed at a regular time. 6:45pm to sleep (no later or earlier, or I get cranky). Up at 6:40am (because 12 hours of sleep would be a little excessive). And then I get two good naps a day.

Sign language

It's so hard to teach Mamma and Daddy sign language. I wish they would read the cheat sheet:

Pointing: Oooh, look at that.
Reaching for person: I want to eat your hair.
Clapping hands: I did something new/exciting, come see!
Clapping fists: I want more cheerios please.
Hitting mouth: Hello, I'm hungry here.
Slapping table: Service. Service!
Shaking head: No, I did not order the cottage cheese.
Slapping Mamma's chest: Thirsty.
Pulling ear / Rubbing eyes: I'm sleepy, put me to bed already.
Pulling hair: I'm serious, it's bed time.
Waving hand: Bye-bye. (or) Good morning. (or) I'm excited to see you. (or) I've got a hair on my hand, please get it off.

Blitz

So much to do. So little time. I have to learn that my cups go in one another. And my rings go on a stick. And I can feed Mamma and Daddy my Cheerios. And I can take a small step before I fall. And so this leaves me absolutely no time for naps. Go go go go go.

In

I love gravity. It's great fun to drop things. And I just found out that I can drop things IN something else! My favorite wooden chips aren't just wooden chips. They go into a wooden cup (not shown here)! It's a whole new world of fun.

Latest fad

Being tossed up in the air is so last month. Twirling around in circles was trendy last week. This week, what's hot is flopping our body backwards while in Mamma/Daddy's arms in an attempt to get our head beneath our torso. Anything to get a head rush!

Make-up

I love my veggies. But apparently carrots and squash and sweet potato turn my nose orange. Since Mamma and Daddy claim I'm too young for concealer, I'll just show off my orange nose with pride. Because there's no way I'm giving up my favorite veggies.

Protest

I'm holding a nude protest. I'm protesting that grandmothers leave after they come and visit. Mamma and Daddy will have to catch me first, because I'm not letting them put clothes on me until GranmaNee returns or Mormor comes to visit!
