Home

M: Time to go to the dentist. You can finish your movie when we get back home.
n: But we are home.

I'm such a great patient

I went to the dentist for the first time today. I was nervous to go in, but warmed up to the nice doctor dentist lady when she told me I had perfect teeth and beautiful hair. I'd have to say going to the dentist is pretty sweet. They colored my teeth purple, let me wear fancy sunglasses, and made my teeth taste like strawberry. Then they showed me movies of how to brush my teeth like a monkey and even showed me video of my teeth and tongue. At the end of my visit, they gave me a bunch of swag for being so good and opening my mouth real wide. They gave me a Tiana toothbrush, toothpaste, Belle floss, a sticker, a ring and a pink timer! I want to go back. I like the doctor dentist lady.

PatandBethandLaurenandTrevor (video to come)

I ask every weekend if I can visit PatandBethandLaurenandTrevor. And FINALLY Mamma and Daddy said yes. Why do I love visiting them so much? Playroom? Sure. Blacklight disco ball strobe light dance parties? Definitely.

Road trip!

Books and my brother. I'm set. Road trip.

Lipstick

Pink boots. Princesses. Pink headbands. Doll houses. And now lipstick. Black is a manly lipstick.

Writing vs Concrete Thinker

I'm really curious about this upper- and lower-case letters. But please don't call them big- and little-letters, because 'n' is big and 'N' is little. Adults are so silly.

Coping strategies

Last night Mamma couldn't find my Cinderella book. I told her it was okay and that we would find it tomorrow. And I did! I found it in the morning and told Mamma that it was all okay because we found the book. We didn't have to worry.

NeeNee thinks there is a conspiracy against my hair

NeeNee was already suspicious that everyone was voting to cut my hair. Now she's going to be really suspicious when she sees that the vote tally went from 15 votes down to 8, and all the votes that disappeared where ones to trim the bangs, or leave the hair alone. I hope she doesn't take it to court for a recount.

The English language is so weird

As I learn to read I wonder who decided to make English so confusing. First there's the upper-case "I" which looks like a lower-case "l" which looks a lot like the number 1. I mean really. Wait what? "I" is another (roman) way if writing 1? I'm out.

Castle

I love drawing castles, and Mamma and Daddy helped me make my own castle! It even has a turret!

Love thy sister

Nina is the coolest person I know. I want to do everything just like her. This morning, she wore a blue headband to preschool. Mamma didn't have another blue one, but she had a pink one. So I wore that to daycare. I was so proud of looking like my cool big sister.

Counting brilliance

Reading the newspaper has paid off:

M: (counting food that is passed onto her plate) One. Two.
e: Free.
M: OMG! Wow! That's right! One. Two.
e: Free. For. Fibe. Eaven.

Big girl - Superpowers

I'm almost 4. Which means I'm almost a really really big girl. Big girl things include opening the fridge to get a drink.
Really really big girl things include not being seen while opening the fridge to get a drink.

Artist

I love the arts. Music (Ariel singing is my favorite), literature (Good Night Moon, One Fish Two Fish, anything with animals), and paintings. Is is selfish to appreciate your own artwork?

Fashion Smashion

I coordinate my clothing to my toys. The socks match the car. The skirt match the driver. The polka-dots match the wheels. See. There's a method to my taste in fashion.

Potty training

I wish Ewan would give me some privacy when I'm doing my business. Once he's ready for the potty, then I might help him learn.

e: Daddy?
M: He's going poo-poo.
e: Potty.
M: Do you want to learn how to go potty?
e: No.

Hair

My hair is getting pretty long. When Daddy was a little boy, he had long hair too. And just before his 2nd birthday, all his locks were cut off. I like my hair. It gets lots of comments and all the teachers love it. But I wonder what I would look like without the curls. So do I cut my hair? Do I leave it alone? These decisions are too hard for a 1 year old. If you'd like to give your thoughts, there's a poll on the right side.

21 months!

Saying words is so cool. I love to repeat everything that people say. It doesn't always sound right, but it's fun to practice. And if they don't understand me, I take them to what I'm talking about, or a photo of it. I guess this means I pass Module 3 of the Autism Diagnostic Interview.

Nina is still my favorite person. Hugging her is my absolute favorite activity. Half the time it ends in laughter and more hugs and the other half the time it ends with tears. The uncertainty is part of the fun.

I've almost forgotten about my best friend E. I don't ask for him at nap or bedtime and he doesn't follow me into bed. When I wake up early early early or if I'm sick, I still have a hankering for him. But I'll easily give him up if asked.

More to come after I steal the computer back from Daddy getting his The Onion fix.

Liverwurst

Like my sister, I love pink. So when Mamma gave us pink food - it was awesome. More pink sandwiches please!

Genetics

Mamma claims Bedstemor taught her this move. But no one taught me. It must be genetic.

Delusion

n: Can we watch a movie?
M: It's Ewan's turn and I think he wants to see Elmo.
n: Or maybe he wants to see Dora or Diego. I think he really wants to watch Dora. Or Diego. Yup. He wants to watch them.
M: Or maybe it's you that wants to watch Dora and Diego.
n: You're right!

Silent movie star

E: Bedtime update

I forgot to ask for my E last night at bedtime. And Mamma didn't give it to me. SO THAT MEANS I WENT TO SLEEP WITHOUT MY E. ALL BY MYSELF! I'm such a big boy.

The power of song

Mamma and Daddy don't always wake up in the morning when I call for them. However, if I sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" or "Baa Baa Black Sheep" they come in with smiles on their face.

Oh, the horrible decisions toddlers are faced with

Whether to eat my soothie (again, pre-Epic of the E photo)...
Whether to eat one Oreo cookie...
Or whether to eat TWO Oreo cookies.

I guess it's not that hard of a decision after all.

Master debater

n: I think those are fairies. No they're not. Yes I think they are fairies. I don't. Of course they are fairies. I don't think they are fairies. I think I don't think I know I don't know what those are.

Relevance

One. . . more. . . trade . . .

Since when does the Internet go out?

What will come next? Blizzards, floods and the end of the world? With no Internet I can't watch my Netflix, play Nickjr.com, or watch YouTube. This is NOT acceptable.

Stacks

I'm skilled. And proud of my skills.

Note: Photo taken before Mamma decided to (try to) end the Epic of the E.

E

Mamma's being a meanie. She's taken Ewan's E away during the day. As a sign of solidarity I wanted an E tonight when I went to bed. He's my brother and I've got to take care of his needs.

e: wwwhhaaaaaa!
M: You're fine Ewan. You don't need your E.
n: Yes he does. He needs his E.

What did you bring to daycare this morning?

I let Princess and Ariel have a day off of from coming with me to daycare. Today I brought Nina's pink giraffe.

Time-out

I love Nina. And whatever she's doing or playing with, I want to do and play with too. Fortunately she's good at sharing.

Nina hit me with her scuba gear and went to time-out. She even shared her time-outs with me.

Well, if you insist on taking pictures...

Math

n: There's another bus.
M: That's right. We saw four buses, and there's another one. How many buses have we seen?
n: Five!

Toilet training

Since Nina toilet trained on her own schedule, Mamma and Daddy seem pretty lazy about trying any toilet-training with me. I'm guessing that if any toilet training is going to be done, I'm the one that will have to initiate it. I've started training Mamma and Daddy on how to toilet-train me by showing them that I like to wipe myself while they change my diaper. I've also taken to grabbing Nina's old potty-ring to put on the toilet and say "poop". How long until they get the hint?

Best big sister ever

I've fallen in love with Nina's dolls, especially Ariel and Aurora (who I call Princess, and others may know as Sleeping Beauty). They go everywhere with me. And Nina lets me, even though I know they're her dolls (because when she asks for them, I'll return them for 5 seconds). She's so good at sharing!

Be careful what you wish for Mamma

M: I don't want to be an old grandmother. So if I'm going to be a young grandmother, you're going to have kids when you're 18, okay?
n: No.
M: How about 22?
n: Okay.

Lesson: Don't be facetious with a 3 year old.

Hair

I don't know if you've noticed, but I really don't like my hair being brushed, styled, ponytailed, hair-clipped or pigtailed. But today Mamma brushed the hair of my princesses. And they looked Beautiful! So I then brushed my own hair and it looked Beautiful too! I might keep brushing my hair. Might and I being the operative words.

Daddy is away

Daddy left town for a conference. At least we have each other. We'll be on our best behavior for Mamma...
... for 2 minutes!

So much fun! I got hotdogs and soda and 2 spares!
