Manicure

Mamma's given me manicures before. She's cut and filed my nails down all nice and pretty. But she keeps forgetting the nail polish. I just wish someone would invent nail polish that wasn't washable.

Oh. And Mamma and Daddy are all excited because they got a new house today. Except I don't see it, so I'm not quite certain what they're talking about.

Oh. And today was Mamma's last day at work. Expect I don't see that either as she's going into work tomorrow. I don't understand parents.

Excitement

Nina and I are sooooo excited that Mamma and Daddy are closing on our new house tomorrow, that we can't sleep a wink! Weeee!!!!! New house, new house, new house.

Johnson & Johnson

Does Johnson & Johnson take special orders for creating new products? I'd like to order some ear-hair remover and some tear-free Head and Shoulders. Can they ship overnight delivery?

Water in the ear

D: You've been in the bathtub a long time. You're going to turn into a prune!
n: No. Nina not balloon.

That's what big sisters are for

I think I'll be the one to teach Ewan about the potty. Because Mamma and Daddy aren't the best teachers. I ask to watch Elmo Potty a bazillion times a day. It's my favorite thing. Elmo's a good teacher. So I tell Mamma woo-woo (because they're calling it the wrong thing when they say poo-poo) and run to the potty. But when she sees poop in my diaper, she thinks she has to change my diaper, and not that I'm holding in the rest of my woo-woo for the potty. I'm being patient. I'm trying to work with them. But I think I'll be the one to help Ewan. I understand woo-woo-fu.

Bathtime-fu

Mamma has strong bathtime-fu. Either that, or I love water, love being naked, love massages, love being naked, love having my head rubbed, or love being naked. I think I love being naked.

Potty

n: Nina poopoo.
D: Go run to the potty.
(run run run run run)
n: Mamma, diaper off.
(pick up potty, Mamma take off diaper)
n: Uh-oh. Nina poop diaper.

Geez. Getting poop in the potty is hard work. Maybe next time.

Teenager attitude

D: Nina, how about we go run around? Or swing? Or eat popsicles? Or make drawings?
n: Or not.

Reset

I've been waaay too predictable for Mamma and Daddy. Good sleeper, sleeping a lot night and day, good eater, eating every 3 hours, and fussy at the same time each night. So to shake things up - yesterday and today I refused to close my eyes and sleep. And I ate at different times, stretching it out to 4 hours, and then quickly asking to eat after 2 hours. But I think my plan backfired. Mamma and Daddy seem fine to spend awake time with me during the day, and I'm so exhausted I crash at 9pm and only wake once during the night. Frick.

Pink

Why? Oh why? Why do my parents trust my sister to choose my outfits?

What's for dinner?

BRAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIINS

Happy Daddy's Day!

We celebrated by both sleeping (and Mamma too) to let Daddy have time to play his video games. But we love Daddy everyday!

I have rabies

I'd be a crazy rabid werewolf. Except mmm... sleep... zzzz...

Nosebleeds

I have Mamma's nose, Daddy's fingers, Mamma's coloring, Daddy's curls, Mamma's morning moodiness, and Daddy's noses spit up. All over my bed, face, pjs. Scary scary.

2 months!

Hmmm.... Eat, sleep, poop, coo, smile. Yup. I'm pretty sure I've met all my milestones for my second mirthday.

Eat. No problems with the bottle. I have no idea why my sister wanted me to have bottle-fighting-fu. I likey.

Sleep. Lots. Pretty regularly. And at 6 hour stretches at night (though not necessarily when Mamma and Daddy want to sleep). And I'm fussy around 6-7pm. But only because I read online that babies cry a couple hours during the day. And since I only cry when I'm hungry I figured I had to add some more cries in there somewhere. I may switch this up in the future. I'm being WAY too nice to Mamma and Daddy.

Poop. Still green. But I'm squeezing out a couple yellow ones here and there.

Coo. Morning and late afternoon. I figure that's the best way to get Daddy refreshed for a full day with me and Nina, and the best way to prepare Mamma and Daddy for my 6-7pm fussy-fest.

Smile. With such a smiley sister, who wouldn't want to smile back at her! But most of the time I'm just mellow.

Do-tido-tido

I'm thinking happy-singy-dancy thoughts. Not thoughts of tipping over my high-chair and going BOOM on the floor. No. No stand on chairs. Bum on chair. No Daddy heart-attack.

Back to work

Mamma started work yesterday. And I gotta say, I like this staying home with Daddy gig. Bottles, nom-nom-nom, mmm, mmm, good. Nina? I don't think she's happy with sharing Daddy and missing Mamma.

Boobies

(discussion after Ewan nursed)
n: What are those?
M: Mamma's boobies.
n: (looking down at chest) What happen Nina's boobies?

Thumb update

Glory glory Hallelujah! Sweet sweet thumb. Oh, I love you.

Growing

I'm betting that Ewan will be bigger than me in a couple of months. He's not yet 2 months old and he outgrew his 0-3 month clothing (size 000 for those south of the equator) a couple of weeks ago.

I also coached Ewan on bottle-fighting with Daddy. Today was Day 1. Ewan's not a very good listener. After 30 minutes he threw in the towel. Well. Tomorrow is another day, and tomorrow Mamma's not around for Daddy's moral support. So we shall see who triumphs!

But enough about him. On to talking about me. I can now walk down and up stairs like a big person. I'm very very very proud of myself. Now I'm experimenting with walking up and down stairs wearing sandals, boots, shoes that are too big for my feet (I don't recommend the latter). And although I've mastered drinking from a regular cup, I'm a neat freak and often drink from sippy cups. Plus, that way Ewan and I have Mamma and Daddy cleaning twice as many lids and bottle nipples!

Firefighters

Daddy wants to be all-do-it-yourself at our new place. In preparation for him learning electrical work, we thought it wise to meet the nice men and women who will be coming to our rescue.

Thumb!

I have a thumb! That is if I can find it again. But for two glorious seconds today I sucked on my own thumb and didn't need to ask Mamma or Daddy to give me my soothie. Ahhh....

More coffee!

Mmmm... coffee... want more coffee... more coffee... more coffee...

Dastardly plans

Ewan and I had this great plan to stay awake all day and night and not sleep in an effort to make Mamma and Daddy super-duper silly exhausted. It worked! For one day. But today? Not so much. Too tired.

Quotes

n (with a mouthful of apple): Daddy on (the back) deck.
D: What did you call me?

Memos

D'oh! I just got the memo that my poops are supposed to be yellow and not green. Okay. Rectified that. My intestines are no longer in hyper-over-drive mode. But unfortunately Daddy also got a memo -- that my unswaddle-fu was stronger than his swaddle-fu (I'm a very very very strong baby boy). And now he's brought in reinforcements! His new swaddle-fu is very very very very strong!

Psych experiments

My big sister is scared of ants. To help treat her fear Mamma and Daddy have paired something she loves (me) with what she fears (ants on my shirt). Really? Mamma and Daddy are already using me in their psychological experiments? They couldn't have waited until I was old enough to give consent? And what if she becomes scared of me?! Did they even think of that?!

Humor

D: What's so funny?
n: Ewan pooped Mamma's pjs and belly. Ewan spit up Mamma's shoulder. Bwwaaahhaaaahhaaaa!

Role model (this goes out to GranDen)

I'm a big sister now. That's a lot of responsibility. And while sometimes I don't want to act like a good role model, I'm trying my best. Like sitting on the potty. I know all about pooping and peeing and toilets and diapers. I know the difference between poops and farts. I know when I'm about to poop. I like to look at my poop in my diaper, talk about Mamma and Daddy's poops and pees, watch them flush the toilet and wash their hands. But I also don't like to sit on my potty. Mamma and Daddy have asked and prompted and cajoled. I'm a very stubborn girl when I want to be. But tonight, in an effort to help potty-train Ewan, I sat on the potty. Because his poop is stinky. Oh. And because Mamma read me The Lorax while I sat on the potty.

New house

So exciting! We're moving! If I have two homes before I'm 3 months old, how many homes will I have before I'm 1 year old?

Happiness

Daddy and I love head rubbies. Mmmm... Head rubbies.

Passport

Mamma made me pose for my passport photo. This photo is supposed to last me for 3 years. You'd think she'd spring for a professional photo instead of trying to take it herself.
I know they want a white background. But Mamma, couldn't you have avoided my spit-up stains?
And now, didn't you notice there were blankets around me?
Geez, can you use a larger flash? It made me spit up my lunch!
Oh, sorry. I didn't know you were ready to take another shot.
Okay. Hopefully the passport agency will accept a semi-side profile.

Vocabulary

I'll translate some of Mamma and Daddy's words for you. When they say ___, what they really mean is:
spinach = leaves
louder = noisy
library = cookie at the coffee store

Again with the unoriginality

It took my big sister a while to discover the bears when she was a baby. Good thing I've got her to teach me about the world and give me hints/winks/nudges in the right direction.

The important things in life

Daddy's giving me lessons on video-gaming.
Lesson 1) Don't disturb the Grand-Master of Gaming.

The life of a 2-year old

Now let me see...

... Oh. So that's what the world looks like when I open my eyes. Eh. Back to sleep.

Wordy girl

M: Where's Nina?
n: Nina sitting right here. Eating snack. Eating bear cookies. Eating bear's foot (Teddy Grahams).

The logic of sleeping habits

M: Why do you think your brother sleeps so much?
n: Because he's home!
