Material girl vs Dorothy

Nina's going through an 80s stage. I try to pull off her look, and it's more Dorothy from Wizard of Oz.

M: Because it's time.

Strike called off

The non-striking party has been witnessed streaking in an effort to jump in the tub and refuse to exit the said tub. The strike is presumed over.

M: What are you thankful for?

Daycare transition update

I've changed my mind. If Stephana keeps doing this to my hair, I'll have to work on crying when I see her again.

Daycare transitions

I'm a happy LadyBug! Nina was a LadyBug, and her teacher was Stephana. When I was a TeddyBear and I saw Stephana, I would run and give her a hug... just like Nina. But when I started transitioning to the LadyBugs at the start of this month, I was not happy. When I saw Stephana, I would turn and run in the opposite direction, crying. When I became an official LadyBug last week, I would cry and cry and cry whenever I was dropped off. Of course, that was mostly for show and to voice my displeasure to the parents. Because as soon as they left, I stopped crying within a couple of minutes. But I kept up the guilt-routine for over a week. This morning, I gave it up. It was too exhausting and dehydrating to do all that crying and screaming.

e: Books!

Bath strike update

The settlement continues to improve with the striking party acknowledging that splashing is fun.

Heat wave

Any reports that heat waves near the end of November are due to global warming are false. I wanted to blow bubbles outside and so the outdoors listened.

Time-out

Oh, Ewan's here? There's a camera? I hadn't noticed. I'm just sitting here quietly doing my penance for having thrown toys.

Bath strike update

The opposing parties seem to have come to a tentative agreement. No evidence of this agreement can be shown, however both parties attest to its veracity. The settlement was initiated by the striking party much to the pleasure of the parenting party. The striking party did not sit in the tub, but didn't cry/scream/claw their way out of the tub.

Dainty

Ewan loves Mamma's shoes. But I think they look better on my feet.

Cockanoluts

TV: It's simple really.
n: What does "simple" mean?
D: Easy, or...
n: Cockanoluts!

19 months!

19 month old sense of humor is so far my favorite. EVERYTHING is hysterical! Running away from Mamma and Daddy is funny. Throwing myself on pillows is funny. Pulling Nina's hair out is funny. And so is playing with my food, dropping food on the floor, pictures in books. You name it, I'll giggle. I'm a grinny boy. And since I understand everything people say to me, I'm always two steps ahead planning my next evasive hysterical maneuver.

And speaking of books... More please. Oh, but not that one. Can't you read my mind? I read that book yesterday, it's so old news. "book, book.... no, no... book, book". I'm very decisive about what I'm in the mood to read.

What I'm not decisive about is food. I'll eat whatever is given to me... all of which I call "crackers". Crackers refers to crackers and cookies and anything else starchy. But my all time favorite dish is still Daddy's Cincinnati Chili. Thirds please!

I'm a very polite little man. I say "more please" (a lot), and "up please" and "please" instead of saying 'want'. And then when Mamma/Daddy/Nina/kindperson gives me what I want, I make sure to say "thank you" afterwards. It makes them beam and usually give me more food - which is my motivation in the first place.

My favorite person of all time is Nina. I want to act like her, talk like her, watch shows like her, sing like her, be close to her, pull/eat/hold her hair, flop on her, chase her, 'check-in' at daycare like her, share her food and just generally be around her. I've even got her old daycare teacher in the LadyBug room (Stephana), that's how much I want to be like her.

Then to cover the basics of eat, sleep, poop. Eat - already covered. Sleep - 7:30pm-6am pretty much like clockwork. Poop - stage 5 diapers.

Soothing soother

Yes. I still love my soothie. I take it to bed every night and fight to spend time with it every day. I've even named it. It's my "E".

Dinner guests

My friend Max and I didn't eat our dinner. But because Mamma and Daddy are good hosts, they still let us have dessert! I love dinner guests!

Copycat

Anything Nina does I want to do too.

House guests

Yay! Houseguests! They're my friends. And they want to stay up late and then go to the zoo. Houseguests should visit more often.

Twins

I'm envious of people who have a twin. Imagine. Being able to always look at yourself all the time. What bliss! I, however, will settle for any and every reflective surface.

WTF

32'F (0'C) in the morning, and 74'F (23'C) forecast for this afternoon! It is absolutely not fair that I can't wear my flip-flops with my tights.

Hunger

I may have already eaten my own shirt, but that doesn't mean I'm not still hungry for whatever Nina's eating.

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

What did you have for dinner?

Ewan -- Tartar sauce.
Nina -- Ketchup.

Storytimed

Our master plan worked. When it switches to daylight saving time, the news advertised that Mamma and Daddy would get an extra hour sleep. Ewan took one for the team and woke up early. And then we ran Mamma and Daddy in circles all day. And then I finished the day off by keeping Mamma and Daddy up later. Mamma was so tired she fell asleep right after me!

Temperature

I'm not sure I understand the weather here. I have to wear coats and almost mitts in the morning. But then I come home and it's sunny and warm enough to blow bubbles. Really, a 40'F difference from morning to night? How does one dress for this?!

When I grow up

n: I want to be a football.
M: You want to watch football this weekend?
n: No. I'm a princess now, and when I turn 5 I'm going to be a football.

Women lie about their age. I'm starting early.

n: I'm two.
D: No, you're not two, you're three.
n: No. I'm two. I turned two, so now I'm two.
D: And then you turned three. So now you're three.
n: No. I'm two!

Daycare

M: How was your day at school?
n: Wonderful.

Too much transition

I'm metamorphasizing from a TeddyBear to a LadyBug at daycare. While I'm a laidback little man, I'm not a fan of change. So much so it's making me sick. I shared my feeling with Mamma/Daddy by throwing up on them almost 10 times today. See if they send me back to the LadyBugs tomorrow.
