Butterflies

I wore the perfect dress to attract butterflies. Camo-fly!

Butterflies

I loved the butterfly show. But no butterflies landed in me when I was running around. When nice people handed me (wounded) butterflies that had landed on their flowers, I quickly ran them over to the flowers so they could got some nectar.

Labels

I go my own iPod too! I can watch PBS Kids and play games and do matching.

M: So that makes me...
e: The best!
M: And you are...
e: The smartest!

Music

Did I fail to mention I received my own iPod for my birthday? And that I now can walk around with music 24-7? I'm in heaven and my parents are the best!

Music preferences

I love Michael Jackson. I do not love that he is dead and that they don't make MJ lunch boxes or toys. I do not like Justin Bieber. Well, except two songs. And they make me cry because I do not want to like his music and it makes me sad that he's alive and MJ isn't. So I call him Justin Beaver. Because I sounds better.

And I like some of Kelly Clarkson. And Aqua. And Janet Jackson. And One Direction. I can't decide it I'm a child of the 80s or 00s.

Phone calls

I pace non-stop like Daddy and talk non-stop like Mamma.

Slumber party

We wanted to sleep with all of our animals. But we don't use this bed. So maybe all the animals will have a slumber party without us.

I did it!

Sat for 70 minutes, watched Dumbo and played games, and then finally I POOPED ON THE POTTY!

Belated party

How did I forget to share that I had a Paraplegic Polly for my Barbie birthday party?! And that I got my very own iPod to listen to Michael Jackson?!

That's my (boy)friend Shayden.

Evenings

e: Oh my gosh, it's 60 pounds of dark out there.

Soccer #7

I run on and off the field whenever I want (to give my family hugs), swirl in open field because I'm an animal, and have the most fun playing at the park afterwards. Soccer's okay.

Soccer

I'm wide open!

Inevitable

Cars

(Getting into Mormor and Morfar's similarly grey hatchback)
e: How did Mamma's car get so clean?

Great day

Grandparents coming on birthdays are great. Them coming with presents is even better. Then having friends come visit for my party the next day, it's like a long weekend celebration!

4! (photo to come)

Growing up is hard. I want to be a big boy really badly, but sometimes its hard. Like I can speak in complex sentences with vocabularly beyond my years and logic and arguments as good as a lawyer. But I just can't control my bladder. But you know what? I'm okay with that.

I love to drive with the windows down so I can talk to people on the street. I love to snuggle with my Nina, play with animals, and play house with her.

(more later)

Poem from NeeNee

Typhoon Monsoon Locust Swarm,
is what your parents

once had warned
us of your habits,
twists and turns
but we all know

there's more to tell
there's lots to love
we know you well,
there's how you say hello to trees
and sidewalks, fences, people, jeez
you invite strangers out to lunch!
You snuggle, grin and hug a bunch!
(We will not mention cutting faces
scissors, spits or headlong races
down a set of cement stairs)
but Super Man was luckily there
to catch you just before your head
met concrete (but it must be said
there's other things you like instead)
like body surfing on car hoods
or any time spent in the woods.
You like to sleep in Nina's bed
there's not a book you haven't read
on animals and dinosaurs,
there's all you soldiers and your cars...

Super Heroes? You're The Hulk!
You've got the brawn you've got the bulk,
but somehow you're a combination
("Dudited States"...birth of a nation
comment noted,
and is voted
cutest quote that ever was)
and we all know it's just because

you are our Ewan,
sly and smart,
a bit of devil-
mostly heart,
a boy who knows "a lot of things"
(just ask him)
he has roots AND wings,
a smile that melts us into puddles,
a will that's fierce and can befuddles,

but oh...the magic,
none is better
"I will love you for forever"
whispered in the early dawn
of cuddly snuggles, morning yawns:

It's Ewan Time, it's Ewan's Core,
a Locust Swarm and So Much More.
At three he was the sun and moon
and now he's grown too fast, too soon
into a little boy of four:
...and we will simply love him more.

Age and ice cream

Little kids + ice cream = sugar high.
Parents + ice cream = sugar crash.

And if you're wondering about the hair. No, I don't want it cut.

MJ

(Watching early Michael Jackson videos)
n: Who's that?

(Watching late Michael Jackson videos)
n: He looks like a girl. But he's not.

iPod

Listening to Michael Jackson on my iPod is AWESOME!

Questions

(After discussion about beliefs and how different people believe different things)

n: I believe in NeeNee. And Mormor. And my brother. And birthdays. And a funny guy. Oh! And I believe in Roger Rabbit.

Belief

n: Is God alive?

My new favorite colors are pink, purple, green and now blue. Today is blue day.

Spring is awesome!

While Nina played soccer, I literally kept crossing the line (into the soccer field).

Pink hair

Daddy started coloring his hair at 23. So I started at 6. But it washes out. Which is lame.

Potty training

No biggie. I'm just asking to sit on the toilet every now and then. Still not doing anything while sitting there. Just seeing how it feels. Hugest portapotty I've ever seen!

Soccer 0-6

Soccer is awesome! We lost, and Mamma yelled too many instructions. But I had a blast!

Soccer

I cried. I ran away. I cried some more. I threw cones at kids. And then I finally kicked the ball.

6! (Photo to come)

I now know how to write my letters, and even make artistic forms of letters and hearts over the 'i'. I can sound out lots of words and am reading my own books. I let my friend Landen think he's the smartest in the class, but know that I'm smarter than him.

I love to draw. No. I live to draw. I use my desk to store all my art work that I can't fit on my wall. I tape my art to all surfaces of the house that my parents will let me. I design clothing, draw animals and zoos for Ewan, make art as gifts for all my friends, and am currently studying profiles.

I love to eat. I still enjoy first and second breakfast. And if I could, would eat Jalapeño Cheetos for snack and lunch. The spicier the better. But I'm not a fan of mint. I call it salty.

My birthday theme for this year was Barbie. But I've already decided next year will be soccer.

I'm betrothed to my best friend Shayden. He's bought me one ring that I broke. But we both agree that we'll get married.

Admittedly I'm a bit of a perfectionist. And competitive. Some people think having fun is the important part. They're wrong. I must do it perfect and win, or I cry. Which helps with the sympathy card. And sometimes I just turn on the waterworks to see what will happen.

I still love to sleep in. And now fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. I know. A role reversal for me. I'll even sleep through Ewan climbing all over me as he gets out of bed.

6!

n: Do I sound 6?

n: Mamma and Daddy, do you miss me being 5?

n: My favorite part of today was OPENING ALL THE PRESENTS!

n: I know what my friend is getting me because I asked him and made him tell me.

(after eating breakfast cake and then running to play before opening presents)
M: Nina, what do people get on their birthday?
n: Cake.
M: And what else?
n: More cake.
M: And presents?
n: (runs back) Oh yeah.

Poem from NeeNee

So much has changed
in just one year
you're growing fast
you're switching gears,
there's Kindergarten
swimming lessons
Barbies, baking
make up sessions...

Mrs. Phelps says you're the best
at drawing
(does she know the rest?
Like how your genius
grows in fashion
stripes and dots
a leggings passion?)

You've mastered chopsticks
peed in lakes
these are developmental stakes
that some aspire to (never learn),
we blink
and you've already turned
to writing letters
reading books,
A Baby Grand who someone took
and made into
a Grander Girl

with tastes
that run from frills to twirls,
a dash of sass
a hint of floppy
the "Nina Look"
no one can copy...

Here you are
delicious mix
of joy and sunshine
now you're six!

We celebrate
your happy mirth,
our lives made sweeter
since your Birth.
