Bobo

Nina fall down go BOOM. That was fun. I think I'll do it again. And again. And again. What's this? A bandaid? Mmm, it tastes good.

Bottomless pit

I have a secret pocket sewn in my pjs. It's where I store all the food I ate today at breakfast, second breakfast, lunch, snack, second snack, dinner and second dinner.

Daddy rocks

Daddy and I have a very different appreciation of rocks.

Police duty

(giggle) Duty. I said Duty. (giggle) (snort)

Sole Models

Well I've got some pretty big shoes to fill - Mamma's. And I'm not speaking metaphorically, either, since I have no idea what "metaphorically" means. I think it's a color - kind of like a light pink. Or maybe I'm thinking of "dinosaur". Words sure are funny, aren't they? I wish I knew what more of them meant. It's like that old saying: "A purple monkey dishwasher face pancakes the hi-fi." Anyways, I have no idea how I'm going to get these to stay on.

Favorite picture book

This new book is awesome! Have you seen the baby in the book? I wish I was as cute as she is!

Sunshine

Phew, it's bright out. Good thing I learned to steal Mamma's sunglasses ages ago.

Growing more teeth

They're kinda hard to see, but I can feel them. Not my canines, but the ones on the other side of them. My molars? On my top left and right, and on my bottom right. Wanna know why I'm not growing my canines? Because 7 8 9, making them only cas.

I know it's a groaner. Please. I'm a baby.

"All done"

When I'm home and finished eating, I push my placemat away to tell Mamma and Daddy I'm done. But I'm finding it much more efficient to tell them I'm "all duhn". Unless we go out to eat. In which case I clean my plate! Mmmm.... big kid food.

Note. Mamma, get your finger away from the camera!

Reading

I have the best new chair for reading in: Mamma and Daddy's laps. All I have to do is walk to them, turn around and sit on them, and poof, they read to me. Sweet!

Note: photo has nothing to do with reading, but OMG I love Old Navy!

New vocabulary

"Oops," I accidentally/intentionally dropped that book. "Oops," I ate a crayon. "Oops," I took my clothing off.

Stepping out for a night on the town

I'm feeling much better today. Can I go out and play, please Mamma, please? Plus, once I find my shoes, they perfectly match my dress!

Stay calm

There's no need to panic. Yes, my temperature is very high. Yes, I'm acting lethargic and not like myself. But that's no reason to test for every infection in the book (that includes UTIs thank you). Sometimes we babies just want a day to relax, sit on your lap and vomit on ourselves. It's nice to have a day of rest amongst all our other days of running around!

Whatcha looking at?

I meant to sit like this.

Father's Day

Since today is Daddy's day, I made sure to tell him this morning to get me my bottle. "Da-da? Ba-ba." He's great. I love him. He does nice things for me. Please do more.

Peek-a-boo

Who's behind the door?
I am!

Allergies

Daddy's the allergy hog in the family. Since he's allergic to almost everything except food and cockroaches, I figured that was the only way to carve out my own allergy-niche. So I picked sesame seeds. No allergy shock, just a mild skin irritation. But then I found out they were in one of my favorite foods - hummus! Maybe I didn't pick my first food allergy that well. Bummer there's no take-backs.

Tornados

Umhum. Yup. Floods. Got it. Now there's a tornado heading for Madison? Okay. Yup. I'll seek shelter. Right after I finish with my toy.

Perseverating writer

Moving crayons from bowl to bowl takes intense concentration. It is a skill that must be practiced over and over to be mastered. So I do not appreciate being interrupted or having my crayons taken away from me. It does not matter that I have been moving the crayons repeatedly for over an hour. If my crayons are taken away, I will tantrum. Just like when you took that pencil away from me the other day. Remember Mamma and Daddy? I will tantrum. A writer needs her tools.

Flooding

There's flooding at daycare? There's flooding all over Wisconsin? Mamma, Daddy, it's an emergency! We have to save my books!

Sitting

"This chair was made for sitting, and that's just what I'll do. One of these days this chair is going to sit all over you." And then I take a bow. Thank you. Thank you very much.

Toy preferences

We got this big box in the mail. Mamma and Daddy prefer what was in the box. They're all excited about this noisy toy that runs over the carpets and floors and makes them clean. Which is fine with me. Means I don't have to share the box!

14 months!

I don't grow older, I giggle older. I find it's the best way to age.

I'm practicing eating with spoons and forks. I prefer to use formal dinnerware to the disposable plastic kind Mamma and Daddy are trying to foist off on me. I eat mostly with my left hand (much to my GranmaNee's delight), but also use my right. I drink from a cup, and when I'm done, I drop it on the floor for Mamma and Daddy. Mamma and Daddy still give me a bottle at bedtime. I don't know why. I can drink from a cup. I guess it makes them feel better? I'm trying to show them I don't need a bed-time bottle by wriggling and giggling out of their lap.

While they may not give me the nice silverware, Mamma and Daddy let me explore far from them. I like that. I especially love them running after me to give me hugs!

I say bye-bye, hi, Ma-ma, Da-da, done, up, ba-ba, bay-bee, and most importantly, Neh-neh. Sure, Mamma and Daddy were saying way more words when they were 14 months. But have you tried getting a word in edgewise with those two?

Bedtime's fun. I get to read paper books (after 14 months, you'd be bored of the board books too) until I pass out at the late hour of 7pm. And when I wake, I have two nalles (teddybears) to play with. So I don't bother crying for Mamma and Daddy. They need their sleep. And it's always fun to see what time they stumble out of bed to check on me. I'm also testing out what happens if I drop a nap. I tried dropping my afternoon nap, but I was just too tired. I'm taking it a bit easier and dropping my morning nap now every other day. We'll see how I go.

My favorite pastime is opening and shutting a cabinet door. Or any door. Especially when Mamma or Daddy are on the other side. And running around the living room in circles. And pushing boxes around the living room in circles. As long as I'm not sitting down. Unless I'm reading. And then I'll speed-read through my boardbooks. If I'm sitting, I'll play with my pegboard or ball-funnel - for like 5 minutes max.

I still love music. My current favorites are techno, techno and more techno. If I have to listen to kids music, I like the new BareNakedLadies album SnackTime. I highly recommend it.

Chilling

Hot and humid outside. Nice A/C inside!

Door

I promise Mamma, I thought slamming the door into Daddy's head would help him feel better.

Help

When Mamma and Daddy get sick they take it to the extremes. Now Mamma won't read to me because "she's lost her voice", and Daddy won't play with me because "oh god the pain". I guess I'll have to play nurse maid and make them better - for my sake!

Views

Mamma, Daddy, come see, the view is great from up here. Wait. What? You didn't put the chair here for me to climb up on? You put it here so you wouldn't step on it? Well, that's good. I'll step on it for you.

True love

How much do I love Mamma and Daddy? So much I'm willing to share my cough/cold with them for the last week (and counting). I can't wait for preschool so I can share even more with them.
